Cirkus Summarum.

Every summer, Muskelsvindfonden and DR Big Band organize the circus performance Cirkus Summarum, where children and childish souls can meet the well-known and beloved characters and hosts from DR’s children’s universe.
 
We started our collaboration with Muskelsvindfonden in 2016 with the aim of elevating the experience of the playground area for Circus Summarum. The challenge was to transform the classic playground with slides and swings to an interactive, sensorial, and diverse experience area where children can immerse themselves in the magic of circus through play and interaction.
 
The content and framework were created based on Muskelsvindfonden's vision of a society where everyone feels included. We  placed special focus on functionality and sensory immersion, so that all children would have equal opportunities to play and experience space, materials, shapes, and color. We aimed at reusing and optimizing already existing resources, and we created 6 dogmas that would help to define the aesthetics, experience, and interactions of the playground in the future.
 
The project scope covered everything from experience mapping, spatial design and wayfinding to the concept development of physical activations, entrances, activity tents, food carts, sponsorship and merchandise stalls.
