House of Scandinavia at Tokyo 2020.

In 2018, SAS launched The House of Scandinavia at SXSW in Houston, Texas. The house became an instant success where SAS enabled business meetings, networking and sparked interest and demand for Scandinavia. After a successful first year at SXSW, SAS decided to launch the house at the Olympics in Tokyo 2020.

PS Communication was chosen to scale up and execute The House of Scandinavia at Tokyo 2020. The house would be the first Scandinavian Nations House at the Olympics as SAS partnered up with the Olympic and Paralympic Committees and sports confederations from Norway and Sweden as well as Discovery Networks Nordic.

The vision for Tokyo 2020, was to create a home away from home for Scandinavian athletes, travelers and media partners as well as create an inspirational meeting place where business partners could experience the Scandinavian values that SAS and the Olympics partners share.

Based on the vision and the tagline “Scandinavia Starts Here”, PS was lead in developing and advising SAS on how to create and operate a complex business and event platform with multiple stakeholders, sectors and nations. Further, we conceptualized, planned for execution and managed the project and venue up until the project was stopped in May 2020 due to COVID-19 and the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

For House of Scandinavia at Tokyo 2020, SAS was entering a partnership with Normann Copenhagen for the interior of the house. The PS design team was focusing on creating a flexible interior design that would support the functionalities needed and reflect our Scandinavian values, nature and design tradition. Making Scandinavia attractive to the rest of the world.
